Configuring ConSeal PC Personal Firewall for LapLink Connections - Search Again

SUMMARY

I want to connect over the Internet using LapLink, but one of my computers has a ConSeal PC firewall. How can I change the firewall so that only LapLink connections can get through?

SOLUTION

ConSeal PC firewall uses a set of rules to block unwanted network traffic, in and out, while allowing only authorized data. You can have a single rule set for all network devices on your system, or you can create separate rules for each one. ConSeal PC firewall comes with a pre-configured 'basic' rule set that protects against most network attacks. Modifying rules can be done manually with a user-friendly wizard.

In order to successfully connect with LapLink you need to modify the TCP/IP rule. Here are the steps:

  1. Double-click the ConSeal PC icon on your desktop.

  2. From the Rules menu, click All Network Devices

  3. Click the Add button, then Next.

  4. Click TCP/IP in the Protocol box, then Next.

  5. In the Local section, type 1547 in both Port boxes.

  6. Note: Do not check Temporary Range
  7. Click Next, then Finish to save this change. Completely exit the Rules and Controls menus to permanently save your changes.

This rule now applies to all remote addresses. If there are other rules for this service but are for a single remote address, they are now redundant and can be deleted.
