Configuring D-Link DI-701 Residental Gateway for LapLink - Search Again

 

SUMMARY

I have a D-Link DI-701 gateway. How can I configure it to allow LapLink to connect over the Internet?

 

CAUSE

See Technical Document 38, Using LapLink in a Secure Environment for more information.

 

SOLUTION

  1. From the Windows Start menu, go to Programs and click Link DI-701 to start the setup program.

  2. Note: The DI-701 can also be configured using a terminal emulation program, such as Windows HyperTerminal, or through Telnet. Check the installation guide for details.
  3. Highlight the IP address for the DI-701 and click Configure. The default is 192.168.0.1
  4. .
  5. Click the Virtual Server tab.

  6. Add the IP address of your LapLink computer for port 1547.

  7. Click Add.

  8. Click Save to reboot the gateway.


To connect to a computer on the network behind the D-Link router:
  1. Determine the external IP address of the D-Link router.

  2. In LapLink, go to Connect over...Network.

  3. Click the TCP/IP tab.

  4. In the Name or Address field, enter external IP address.
    Note: If using the external IP address fails, try external IP address:1547
