Screen Blank Test Runs Each Time LapLink Starts - Search Again

 

SUMMARY

Anytime LapLink is launched a message appears asking if I would like to Run Screen Blank Test now?. Regardless of which option I choose, it always comes back up when I launch LapLink. How can I make this stop?

 

SOLUTION

This test can be bypassed by editing LapLink's initialization file, LLW.INI

For computers running Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT:

  1. From the Windows Start menu, point to Find and click Files or Folder.

  2. In the Named box, type LLW.INI and in the LookIn box, choose your C drive.
  3. Click Find Now.

  4. When the file is found, double-click the file to open.

  5. Note: If you are prompted with a box entitled Open With, choose Notepad or another text editor.
  6. Find the section named [Remote Control].

  7. Find the following line in this section Host Security Support Tested=.

  8. Add or edit this line so that it reads Host Security Support Tested=Yes.

  9. Exit and save the file.

  10. Start LapLink.


For computers running Windows Me or Windows 2000:
  1. From the Windows Start menu, point to Search and click For Files or Folders.

  2. In the Search for Files or Folders Named box, type LLW.INI and in the Look In box, choose your C drive.
  3. Click Search Now.

  4. When the file is found, double-click the file to open.

  5. Note: If you are prompted with a box entitled Open With, choose Notepad or another text based editor.
  6. Find the section named [Remote Control].

  7. Find the following line in the section Host Security Support Tested=.

  8. Add or edit the line so that it reads Host Security Support Tested=Yes.

  9. Exit and save the file.

  10. Start LapLink

  11. Note: LapLink will ask to do the Screen Blank Test again if the video settings are changed on the computer
