Error Message: PCsync has caused an invalid page fault in MSJAVA.DLL - Search Again SUMMARY I've installed PCsync, but I get this error message each time I launch the program. What can I do? CAUSE This error message occurs when the JAVA Virtual Machine (VM) is in the wrong location, outdated or corrupted. SOLUTION The solution is to install the latest version of the VM. A new installation also repairs a corrupted installation. There are two ways that you can get the latest VM.
Download the VM from Microsoft's web site at this URL: http://www.microsoft.com/java. Follow the instructions on your screen for installing.
Remove the existing VM and reinstall from the PCsync CD-ROM
- From the Windows Start menu, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs, and uninstall PCsync.
- When prompted to reboot your computer, boot into Windows Safe Mode. See Technical Document 102 How do I Boot into Safe Mode? if you need detailed instructions.
- From the Windows Start menu, point to Find (or Search) and click Files and Folders.
- In the File Named box, type MSJAVA.DLL.
- In the Look In field, select or type C:\Windows and click Find Now.
- In the search results window, right-click MSJAVA.DLL and click Rename.
Note: If the search does not locate MSJAVA.DLL, check that you've spelled the file name correctly.
- Type MSJAVA.OLD and press Enter.
- Reboot the computer normally.
- Insert the PCsync CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
Note: If the Welcome screen doesn't appear, open Windows Explorer and double-click Welcome.exe on the PCsync CD-ROM.
- Click Install Java Virtual Machine on the Welcome screen and follow the steps on your screen.
- Reboot the computer when prompted, and then reinstall PCsync.
