Screen Blanking Test Always Runs when Starting LapLink - Search Again

SUMMARY

When I start LapLink it asks me to run a screen-blanking test. What is this? How can I get it to stop?

CAUSE

The screen-blanking test is part of LapLink's remote control security features, and must be run. If this is the first time that you have seen the question, click Yes to run the test.

If you have changed any of your video settings, LapLink will rerun the Screen Blanking test.

However, we know that sometimes the results of the test are not correctly recorded in the initialization file so the test runs when it doesn't need to.

SOLUTION

Here is what you can try to stop the test:

  1. From the Windows Start menu, go to Find, and click Files and folders.

  2. Note: If you use Windows 2000, use Search, for Files and Folders.

  3. In the Named field, type LLW.INI.

  4. In the Look in field, type C:\Windows\TSI32.

  5. Double-click the file name to open it in Notepad.

  6. In the [Remote Control] section, edit this line so that it looks like this:

  7. Host Security Support Tested=Yes
  8. Close the file and save the changes. Try LapLink again.
