Installing LapLink on Computers Used to Connect to Main Frame Computers - Search Again

SUMMARY

My computer is used to connect to a main frame computer. I use a terminal emulation program like Windows 2000 Terminal Services. Can I install LapLink on this computer?

SOLUTION

In most situations, LapLink and terminal emulation programs co-exist on the same computer. However, if the computer uses Windows NT or Windows 2000, there may be conflicts. LapLink needs to install a video driver into Windows that acts as a filter for the remote control feature. This driver is a boot-level driver and must run when the computer starts. Some terminal emulation products also have their own video drivers installed. In these cases, LapLink will present an error Unable to install Remote Control Components either when installing or launching the program.

We recommend uninstalling the Terminal Emulation product prior to installing LapLink on your system.
