Please insert the disk labeled...Dialog During Installation of USB Network or Serial Cable Driver - Search Again SUMMARY I'm trying to install either the USB Network cable driver or the Serial cable driver so that I can connect with PCsync. During the installation, I get this dialog and I don't know what disk I need to use. What can I do? CAUSE If basic networking components are not installed on your computer, they must be installed before PCsync can finish installing its cable drivers. The installation program looks for the networking components in the Windows installation files. If the files aren't easily located, this error message appears. SOLUTION If you have a Windows Installation CD-ROM, follow these steps:
- Insert your Windows Installation CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
Note: If the Windows Setup screen appears, close it.
- Repeat the steps you followed to install the USB Network or Serial cable driver.
- When you see Please insert the disk labeled... message, click OK.
- Click the Browse button and find your CD-ROM drive.
- Click OK. The installation will finish
Many computer manufacturers copy the Windows installation files to your hard drive instead of providing an Installation CD-ROM. You can locate these files by following these steps:
- From the Windows Start menu, go to Find, and click Files or Folders.
- In the Named box, type WIN*.CAB.
- Make sure the Look In box reads C:\ and click Find Now.
- Look for any file that starts with WIN9 and write down the path listed in the In Folder column.
- Repeat the steps you followed to install the USB Network or Serial cable driver.
- When you see Please insert the disk labeled... message, click OK.
- Type in the path of the Windows installation files that you wrote down in Step 4.
- Click OK. The installation will finish
