My Serial Connection or My USB Connection Fails to Appear under My Cable Connections - Search Again

SUMMARY

I installed PCsync and the cable drivers, but when I open the program, they do not appear in the PCsync tree pane (top left quadrant). What can I do?

CAUSE

Windows operating systems rely upon helper files in order to enumerate the network adapters. At times, this file can become damaged or corrupt. You will need to reextract a new file from your operating system CAB files to resolve this issue.

SOLUTION

For computers using Windows 98, follow these steps:

  1. From the Windows Start Menu and click on Run

  4. Click Extract one file.

  5. In the box type iphlpapi.dll .

  6. Click Start.

  7. Click Browse for the Restore from and browse to where your installation files are.

  8. Note: These files are often kept in the \Windows\Options\Cab or \Win98 folder if Windows was installed by the computer manufacturer. If you have a Windows Installation CD, you will need to browse to the Win98 folder on the CD-ROM.
  9. For the Save File In click on browse and select the Windows\System directory

  10. Click OK

  7. Note: These files are often kept in the \Windows\Options\Cab or \Win98 folder if Windows was installed by the computer manufacturer. If you have a Windows Installation CD, you will need to browse to the Win98 folder on the CD-ROM.
  8. For the Save File In box, click Browse and select the \Windows\System folder.

  9. Click OK.

  10. If prompted, say Yes to back up the file and create the SFC folder.
