Using a Conexant-based Modems with LapLink - Search Again

SUMMARY

When I dial in to a Conexant modem using LapLink, the modem does not answer. What can I do?

CAUSE

This type of modem uses software emulation to perform modem functions that normally happen in the chips on the modem board. LapLink expects the modem to have all of its functions available on the modem board.

SOLUTION

This type of modem will not work with LapLink products.

Some models that are based on the Conexant chip set are:

  • Any Conexant brand modem

  • Some Creative Modem Blaster internal modems

  • Modems with HFC or HFS in the driver name
