Error Message: Computer Errors to a Blue Screen when Transferring via the Serial Network Cable - Search Again

SUMMARY

I am using PCsync version 1.0 to transfer files over the serial cable but after a while I see a blue screen and my computer freezes. What can I do?

CAUSE

The serial network adapter has a timeout error when transferring very large groups of files.

SOLUTION

This problem occurs with PCsync versions 1.0 and 1.1. A free upgrade resolves this problem in most situations. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Right-click My Computer, and click Properties.


2. In Windows 2000, click Manage.


3. Click Device Manager.


4. Under Network Adapters, click LapLink.com Serial Network Cable Adapter and click Remove.


5. Close Device Manager.


6. From the Windows Start menu, point to Settings and then Control Panel.


7. Use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall PCsync.


8. Reboot the computer.


9. Download the free upgrade to PCsync version 1.5. and install it on your computer.


10. Install the Serial cable driver.
