Error Message: Computer Errors to a Blue Screen when Transferring via the Serial Network Cable - Search Again SUMMARY I am using PCsync version 1.0 to transfer files over the serial cable but after a while I see a blue screen and my computer freezes. What can I do? CAUSE The serial network adapter has a timeout error when transferring very large groups of files. SOLUTION This problem occurs with PCsync versions 1.0 and 1.1. A free upgrade resolves this problem in most situations. Here are the steps to follow:
- Right-click My Computer, and click Properties.
- In Windows 2000, click Manage.
- Click Device Manager.
- Under Network Adapters, click LapLink.com Serial Network Cable Adapter and click Remove.
- Close Device Manager.
- From the Windows Start menu, point to Settings and then Control Panel.
- Use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall PCsync.
- Reboot the computer.
- Download the free upgrade to PCsync version 1.5. and install it on your computer.
- Install the Serial cable driver.
