Configuring BlackICE Defender Firewall to Allow Incoming LapLink Connections - Search Again

SUMMARY

I have BlackICE Defender software firewall running on my computer. When I try to connect over the Internet to this computer, LapLink connections always fail or time-out. Can I configure BlackICE Defender to allow a LapLink connection?

SOLUTION

BlackICE Defender can be configured by enabling the TCP port 1547 in the FIREWALL.INI.

From the Windows Start Menu, click on Find, Files and Folders. Search for FIREWALL.INI
Open FIREWALL.INI
In the section marked [MANUAL TCP high..., add the following line:
ACCEPT, 1547, LapLink, 1999-07-22 20:26:53, PERPETUAL

Save and close FIREWALL.INI
Additional information about the FIREWALL.INI can be found on NetworkICE's web site, KB article q000091. Cut and paste this URL into your browser to locate this information. Http://www.networkice.com/advice/support/kb/q000091/default.htm

Note: If you have question about BlackICE, please contact the vendor. These configuration settings are provided as a courtesy to LapLink.com customers. LapLink does not support BlackICE.
