Configuring a 3Com Home Connect Wireless Gateway for PCsync Connections - Search Again SUMMARY I have a 3COM Home Connect Wireless Gateway on my home computer. I want to make a connection over the Internet with PCsync. How can I do this? CAUSE See Technical Document 303, Using PCsync in a Secure Environment for more information about PCsync. SOLUTION There are two possible solutions:
- If you need to use PCsync only once, an easy and temporary solution is to move your DSL modem (or whatever device is providing Internet access) cable into one of the LAN ports on the 3Com Home Connect Wireless Gateway from the WAN port. The LAN ports are ports 1 through 3. This completely bypasses all firewall protection provided by the gateway.
As you follow the steps in these documents, you need to know the ports that PCsync uses. This information is available in Technical Document 303 referenced above. For example, if you want to make a secured connection with PCsync over an Internet browser (Surf Up), you open port 8443.
