Original Purple USB Cable is not Recognized as a LapLink USB Cable - Search Again

SUMMARY

I tried to follow the instructions to install and use my USB cable, but instead of it being identified as belonging to LapLink, Windows see it as a Non-specific QT processor with 2 SIES. What does this mean?

SOLUTION

IMPORTANT: This document covers the discontinued original LapLink USB cable, not the USB Network cables. This cable is oqaque purple with a 4 1/2" bulge in the middle.

This message indicates an error had occurred with the cable hardware. There is a proprietary microprocessor in the middle of the LapLink USB cable to facilitate data transfer. If that microprocessor becomes damaged in some way, it then loses its "identity" as a LapLink cable.

If you receive this message when Windows detects the USB cable, then the cable is irreparably damaged. If you have purchased it within the previous 12 months, a replacement can be arranged by contacting LapLink Technical Support at (425) 487-8804 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Replacement are limited to stock on hand.
