(This is a rough estimation due to the different basis on which the NZMG is
based on. Errors vary from a few metres in the central regions of the map to
a kilometre at the extremes. Bearings will therefore also be affected.)

**Important note for Garmin users: Remember this!
The false northing value you just entered is wrong. On the Garmins, you can
only enter 7 digits, not 8, so enter 9563802.0. It should really be
10563802.0, but since there is no way to enter that number, the best we can
do is enter a number*exactly* 1,000,000 less and remember to add 1,000,000
to all of the Northing values the Garmin produces. In practice, this won't
be any problem; you probably know where you are to within 1000 km even
without the GPS. But watch out when you enter waypoints directly into the
GPS derived from a map. By the nature of the UTM projection, it does not
matter at all that we had to give it a value 1000000 short; the False
Northing value only changes the labels, not the projection itself. There is
no accuracy lost by using the wrong False Northing value. The real errors
come from using the UTM projection instead of the NZMG projection.
