Many GPS users wish to power externally their units to save the internal batteries. I build cigar lighter cables for Garmin GPS units allowing user to power the unit from a cigarette lighter socket normally found on cars, caravans and some boats. Also people like to take advantage of data programs available in shareware to upload/download data from their GPS receivers to a computer. Existing moving map applications require cables that preferably make the data connection to a portable computer in a vehicle and powers the GPS receiver at the same time.

Each cable is carefully tested on my own GPS to guarantee quality. It uses a good car lighter plug with fuse and indicating light, a flexible rubber cable and a GPS side connector sprayed with a compound to prevent moisture to deteriorate the connections. Feedback from existing customers has been very positive, and several hundred cables have been shipped so far. Described lenghts are standard and available from stock.
