From: A C Hurst During training for rowing I've found the Geko an extremely valuable tool, being able to record a tracklog of a race-pace piece of rowing (on a lake: still water), which is ideally a constant speed the whole way through. By saving a .gpx tracklog file, and uploading this to e.g. gpsvisualizer.com, you can see exactly where you slowed down/sped up, and how much distance you covered - brilliant. And then you can save these and compare them as the season's training progresses. The much maligned power-switch has been replaced with one which is almost flush with the geko's casing, and is thus virtually impossible to accidentally activate - you have to actually press it with something sufficiently convex, like a finger. Finally, I addressed the rather limited battery life, by constructing a power connector and buying a pair of plug-connected battery holders which will take 2 AA cells each, in a 2x2 parallel configuration so as to still supply 3v. - Roughly 6 times the 11 hours AAA battery life in this configuration. I have some self adhesive velcro stuck to the Geko's battery cover, which allows me to stick one 2xAA holder to the case, giving 3x the AAA's life, and still in a very convenient shape. (a photo would explain this all much better) You can buy connector plug kits and complete cables here in the UK from www.gpsbitz.co.uk Andy
